This is another in a series of guest posts by Greg Barniskis about ongoing improvements to Koha reports.
The June monthly circulation reports have been published to the Monthly Reports page, and this month they feature several changes as outlined below.
SCLS has begun converting reports to modern Excel format (.xlsx XML files). This change is not expected to cause any compatibility or workflow issues for you, but please let us know if this transition brings any problems with it. This format is necessary for developing holdings reports that may have millions of rows.
Circulation reports now fully resolve facets for deleted items. This will minimize, but not eliminate, the occurence of statistics attributed to UNDEF facets. These will still occur when an otherwise valid item or patron record is missing some facet information.
Configurable automatic subtotaling for branch clusters and collection code clusters has been added to several circulation reports. For example, "MADISON" is the cluster of all Madison PL locations. The "DDC" collection code clusters are much like the similarly named clusters that we had on Dynix reports. Collection codes have also been grouped by age and material type.
These new subtotal groupings are still considered experimental, and (sorry!) they're not fully documented yet. PSTAT clustering should be available for next month's reports. Thanks to all of the library staff who contributed to the creation of these subtotaling configurations.
The prototype "circ by Dewey" report from last month got some minor hierarchy tuning based on librarian feedback, and is now available as a report for each branch (and branch cluster). Reports of circulation by time of day and weekday are still undergoing some tweaking, and are not yet available in the new monthly format, but should be soon.
