On Wednesday, 12/5, we will be implementing a new
hold sequence in Koha. This is the implementation of the
larger change that was noted when the testing of a new hold sequence
was done with just the Madison P.L. locations on Oct. 1. The
testing of the changes with the Madison libraries was successful so
we are moving to the second stage of the hold sequence changes.
This change will adjust how all LINKcat libraries are listed in the
sequence
The Hold Sequence will be changed to the following:
MRO, BRD, NGL, MRO, BRD, POR, WID, POR, LDI, COL, LDI, PAR, WYO, PAR, POY, CIA, POY, POR, WID, LDI, COL, PAR, WYO, BAR, REE, BAR, PDS, SKC, PDS, SGR, PLA, SGR, RKS, NOF, LAV, RKS, NOF, BAR, REE, PDS, SKC, SGR, PLA, MCM, ACL, MCM, MAD, CEN, MAD, SEQ, HPB, SEQ, MAD, PIN, MEA, PIN, MAD, HAW, LAK, HAW, MAD, SMB, MSB, SMB, MAD, SEQ, HPB, PIN, MEA, HAW, LAK, MRS, CEN, MID, VER, MID, SUN, FCH, SUN, MID, VER, DFT, WAU, DFT, ORE, STO, ORE, DFT, WAU, MOO, MCF, MOO, MTH, DCL, MTH, MOO, MCF, CSP, BLV, CSP, BER, MAZ, BER, CSP, BLV, MAR, DEE, CBR, MAR, DEE, MID, VER, SUN, FCH, DFT, WAU, ORE, STO, MOO, MCF, MTH, DCL, CSP, BLV, BER, MAZ, MAD, CEN, SEQ, HPB, PIN, MEA, HAW, LAK, SMB, MSB.
The Hold Sequence currently being used:
ACL, BAR, BLV, BER, BRD, CIA, CBR, COL, CSP, DCL, DEE, MAD, DFT, FCH, LAV, LDI, MAD, MCF, MCM, MAD, CEN, MAD, SEQ, HPB, SEQ, MAD, PIN, MEA, PIN, MAD, HAW, LAK, HAW, MAD, SMB, MSB, SMB, MAD, SEQ, HPB, PIN, MEA, HAW, LAK, MRS, CEN, MAD, MAR, MAZ, MID, MOO, MRO, MTH, NGL, NOF, ORE, PAR, PLA, POR, POY, PDS, MAD, REE, RKS, SKC, SGR, STO, SUN, VER, WAU, WID, WYO, SCA, SCL, MAD
We are aware this is a bigger change than what we tested with the Madison libraries. Such a change may impact the size of everyone's Holds Queue Report, so we ask that libraries please monitor your reports fro at least two weeks and report major differences. We hope any changes are negligible and easily adapted to, however, if there is too large of an increase and it is reported it is negatively impacting libraries beyond what can handled, SCLS is will be able to return the sequence immediately back to how it currently exists.
The sequence tested with Madison has a hold request from an MPL patron search all the MPL locations before searching other LINKcat libraries for an available copy. The larger sequence change has this concept happening on a county by county level. For example, this means that a request of any patron of a Sauk County library will be searched to see if the item can be found at one of the Sauk County libraries before moving on in the sequence to search other LINKcat libraries.
Currently there are imbalances among LINKcat libraries in regards to which libraries are net lenders and which are net borrowers. It is a goal of the sequence changes to make sharing more equitable among LINKcat libraries. Also, it is hoped that the proposed sequence we are testing will also improve efficiencies at SCLS Delivery.
