New Item Count report in Crystal Reports

Another new report, Item Count, has been added to Crystal Reports.  This report will give a count of items by collection code and shelving location.  You can also choose to have the report subtotaled by either collection code or shelving location.  The report is designed to help with collection planning, shelving and remodeling planning and item count tracking.

New Popular Holds reports in Crystal Reports

Two new “Popular Holds” reports have been added to Crystal Reports.  They will list the top holds placed at the library or libraries you choose.  There are two reports “Popular Holds – Books” and “Popular Holds – Other Materials”.  The Books report creates lists for the top adult and the top juvenile books.  The Other Materials report creates separate lists for Video, Sound (non-music), Sound (music) and Software.  The report was originally requested by Eddie Glade at Portage County so they could have a weekly “most holds placed” list.

• 6/30/16 15,925 items and 1,888 bibliographic records (with only withdrawn items attached) were deleted in the monthly batch deletion of withdrawn items.
• 6/30/16 6,137 bibliographic records were added and/or updated in the database between 5/27/16 and 6/29/16.
• 6/22/16 Section IV of the Linking Manual covering Generic and Perm records has been updated to reflect new guidelines for entering Generic records for die cuts.
• 6/20/16 The ILS Committee approved the Videorecordings Searching and Matching Policy and also approved a change to the Videorecordings BSE Policy at its June 1, 2016 meeting.
• 6/15/16 The ILS Committee approved a new policy "Policy regarding Item(s) continuously checked out by patron" and approved amendments to two existing policies; "Uniform Refund Policy" and "Placing RFID tags on items owned by non-RFID libraries" at their June 1, 2016 meeting.
• 6/7/16 The monthly LINKcat.info and LINKcat Mobile reports for May are posted.
• 6/2/16 The LibLime Koha 4.18.19 upgrade is scheduled for Monday, June 6, 2016 after 9 pm. Please review the 4.18.19 Release Notes for details on the upgrade.
• 6/1/16 The minutes from the May 10 Circulation Services Subcommittee are posted online.
• 6/1/16 Directions for cleaning up duplicate patron records were added to the Circulation Manual Section V Patron Record and Registration.
• 5/26/16 19,042 items and 2,355 bibliographic records (with only withdrawn items attached) were deleted in the monthly batch deletion of withdrawn items.

Koha Known Problems--Recently Added & Updated:

 

• 6/7/2016 FIXED Cannot assign Claimed status in Periodicals. When editing an issue's status in Periodicals, selecting Claimed as a status results in a blank status. All other statuses available in the drop-down menu can be assigned as a status within Periodicals. This is not a new problem, but it was not listed on this page in the past (2/11/2015). (SCLS Support Ticket 2570) [BUG]
• 6/7/2016 FIXED 9/4/2014 Lost items may not get charged overdue fines upon return if that patron was previously charged overdue fines for that specific item barcode at your checkout location. In order to prevent duplicate overdue fines being charged for items overdue and coverted to Lost in version 4.16 and being returned in 4.18, LibLime introduced a bit of code that would prevent a patron from being charged overdue fine twice for the same item. However, this should have only been for those items overdue/Lost over the 4.16 to 4.18 migration gap. If a patron has a previous overdue fine (paid or not) on their record for the same item barcode checked out, gone to overdue and converted to Lost, they will not be charged overdue fines when the Lost item is checked in. Thanks to MAR and WAU for reporting this problem. It has been reported to Liblime. (9/4/14) (SCLS Support Ticket 1573/4.18; FIXED 4.18.19) [BUG]
• 6/7/2016 FIXED 6/4/2014 Advanced Patron Search bug. If you attempt a Search that includes limiting by Patron Category, moving to the next page causes the search to re-select all Patron Categories. This has been reported to LibLime. The work-around is to re-select the patron category after the page refresh. Go up to the Advanced Search Options link, and re-select the Patron Category. (6/4/2014) (SCLS Support Ticket 1081/4.18; FIXED 4.18.19) [BUG] [workaround is posted in Circ Manual Section V p. 6]

• 6/7/2016 FIXED 12/15/2015 Search to Hold by item barcode skips screen. If you use the Search to Hold button from a patron's Check Out screen, you typically get a screen that provides Place Holds buttons pre-populated with the patron's info. Library staff have reported that since the 4.18.18 point release, using this feature and searching by item barcode skips the screen with the patron-populate Place Hold button and goes directly to the Item Detail screen. This has been reported to LibLime. (12/15/15) (SCLS Support ticket 5541; FIXED 4.18.19)
